MERIDIAN ROTARIANS HAVE FUN...HELP MERIDIAN FOOD BANK WITH OVER $900 THROUGH XMAS AUCTION

Tell me, is this a picture of 1)  Meridian Christmas party auctioneer Rotarian Mark Freeman or 2)  a picture of an evangelical revival with The Reverend Mark Freeman calling on parishioners to give their tithe?

No, it's not The Rev. Mark Freeman.  It's Rotarian Mark Freeman, auctioneer-extraordinaire, examining high-end sunglasses.

Great Christmas party at Banbury Golf Course.  Meridian and President Stephanie Hanchett, thank you for including Terry and Dottie Jones (Terry is the assistant governor) and Carolyn and me.

We missed you, Stephanie.  (She was in Salt Lake City caring for her mother.)

In the picture below, Phil and Charla Moran greet visitors with Diane and Reece Theobold.

Here are some pictures from the evening, including the gift exchange (and gift take-away) game.  For instance, here is a picture of Catherine Derek holding the container of Almond Roca, a gift she held briefly.

This is Derek, Catherine's husband, holding his gift, which was not taken by anyone.

Yes, Mrs. Claus (Joyce Rumsey) made an appearance with my wife, Carolyn.  By the way, the Santa hat moves...it's animated.

Larry Chetwood served as a fashion model to boost the auction sales.

Oh yes, there were cool prizes, like the sunglasses Stacey wore
upon his purchase of them for only $100.00, as I recall.

Renee Goodwin, Stacey's wife, received a calming fountain.  Stacey can watch it wearing his sunglasses while he contemplates riding on his Harley Davidson.

Patsy, a recent resident to our Valley, poses with Leslie, her special education teacher granddaughter.  In the next picture, Leslie shows the present she received from her grandmother.

Past President Reece Theolbold Really Tied One On
Reece went from gift to gift -- animated hat (see below), and this and that, until finally he unwrapped a Christmas tie that actually blinked red upon pushing the button.  Reece seemed very happy.

And this is Diane Reece holding her Almond Roca, which Catherine above took!

Jean Banker models her gift, an animated hat.  Yes, Joyce Rumsey above also is wearing an animated hat, but someone else ended up with it.  It was a "I-want-that-gift-so-I'll-take-it" type of evening.

Arlen Baker sits by a basket of wine and other goodies he bought in the auction.

Suzette Freeman is proud of her gift.

And so is Dottie Jones of her new gloves with bling!  Dottie is the wife of Assistant Governor Terry Jones.

Larry Fisher looks mighty happy as does...

Amy, Larry's wife, here showing off lead crystal.

It appears Mary and Lance Curtis have struck the jackpot!

The Kappels enjoyed the corn plate...for a time.  It was snatched by Mary Curtis who declared that she had been raised in Iowa and knew corn.

Yes, another picture of the Kappels, but look at the laughing fellow in the back.  That's Terry Jones, assistant governor, who took the corn plate as his own from Mary Curtis, declaring that he raised corn and he KNOWS corn.  Yep, Terry from the Dairy knows corn as we can all attest.  It was  MOOOVING moment.

Mark Freeman was delighted with his bananas!

And the wine for him and Suzette?

Thanks to Mike Peters for serving as MC ...

And revealing to the group that his wife-to-be Lynette accompanied him to the county courthouse to explain why he threw an ice cream cone at a sheriff's officer.  (It was an accident & she married him anyway.)

Fortunate for the Broncos, Mike grew up to become a Bronco fan as his proud pose by his Bronco football tells us.

Tom opened a great book, All about Earth.

Hal Rumsey ended up with the Santa hat (but you'll see at the top of this presentation that I took Joyce's picture in the hat.  Handsome couple, hey?

Thanks, Meridian.  Carolyn and I enjoyed our evening very much.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALL!
