From the Pocatello Portneuf Club comes its first president Pam McKinley, now an Assistant Governor, and Staci Hernandez, soon-to-be president.

Not only is Bob Rainville an expert on World Community Service issues, he can sell scarves like nobody's business
Danielle Rauscher with Regence BlueShield, a conference sponsor, accepted a promotion which caused her to move to Coeur d'Alene several weeks before Sun Valley.  She returned to fulfill her resposibities to the silent auction.  What a Rotarian.  This is her  husband, Dave.
Melissa Weymouth is flanked by Carolyn Gilbert and Kerrylynn Miller in a planning session held at the Owyhee Plaza.  Melissa is one smart cookie and was responsible for the dancing contest (she talked Kathleen and Terry into it) and the Youth Exchange dance which filled the room with energy Friday night.

Andy Wood is the upcoming president of the Boise West Club for Adventurous Types.  He also conferred with us about the conference.  Andy and Melissa have been to Peru on a Rotary project sponsored by the Boise Metro Club.

Note to the reader:  This blog will change from day to day.  Return to see what I have added.

WE HELD A JOYOUS CELEBRATION OF
ROTARY IN SUN VALLEY

We have pictures to prove we had a GREAT TIME!
And here they are.

(Thanks to Kevin Bradshaw and Scott Record, RC of Twin Falls, for this video.)

WE DANCED.  OH MY, HOW WE DANCED!

Natalie Gallegos and John Delapena, professional dancers, enchanted us all with their footwork.
s

Natalie swirled and whirled!

Their routine was spectacular.

Terry and Natalie did the tango.  Terry's dancing career began and ended that night.
Then Youth Exchange students rushed the floor and started dancing.
Everyone was invited to the dance floor.  It looks like only women complied.

Alok, cricketeer and fitness buff, got into the swing of things.

WILD BILL AGLER LED THE SINGING
IN HIS INIMITABLE STYLE

Bill Agler may look like a mild-mannered newspaper columnist as he poses here with Laura Lineberry, president of the Elmore County/Mountain Home Club.  Get him in front of an audience, and he infuses a room with fun.

YES, WE GAVE CLUBS DISTINGUISHED AWARDS, LIKE THE FOLLOWING...

Members of the Emmett Club were called to the podium to accept a $1,000 check for winning the "Humanity In Motion Award."  They were a little excited with Terry "The Dairy" Jones saying he was "Mooooved!"  (From left to right:  Terry and Dottie Jones, President T.J. Adams, Bryan Stone, Vicky Page, John Buck, John Biggs, Wisti Rosenthal and Stacey Gully.)

Three clubs won $300 each for winning the "Distinguished Integrity Awards."  The proud presidents hold up their banner, including Bill Agler, Boise Downtown, Kym Mowery, East Idaho Falls,  Greg Evans, Caldwell.
Kyle Poppleton (Blue Lakes-Twin Falls) and Frank Taylor (Boise Southwest) accept the Distinguished Rotary Foundation Award.  Rupert also won but was not on site to accept the award.
Who won the Distinguished Pubic Image Award?  Pocatello Gate City (Jerry Myers) and Emmett (TJ Adams).  Also Boise Southwest won, but I don't know why they aren't in the picture.

This picture shows the following clubs winners right to left:  Bill Agler (leadership award), T.J. Adams (leadership and membership),  Terry Bowman (Boise Southwest), Jerry Myers (leadership and membership).
The Club Service Award was won by Emmett,  Pocatello and McCall (a tie), and Boise and Twin Falls (another tie).  Unfortuantely, we did not get a picture of their presidents accepting the award.

THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER, EGIL "BUD" KROGH PRESENTED A SUBSTANTIVE, THOUGHTFUL SPEECH ABOUT INTEGRITY AND HOW ONE CAN PROTECT IT
Bud can be contacted at bud@budkrogh.com or write to his assistant Nancy Glenn Hansen, 323 G St. NE., Washington D.C. 20002

Bud poses with Tavia Gilbert, DG Terry Gilbert's daughter, who worked in the same office building with Bud in the latter 90s and put Terry in touch with Krogh to invite him to be our special speaker.

Terry Gilbert introduced Bud whose speech was received with a standing ovation.  Bud stated that when he authored the Plumbers and decided to break into Dr.Fielding's office to exmaine his files on Daniel Ellsburg, the Plumbers, including G. Gordon Libby, asked operational questions.  In his book, Integrity, he states, "If we had asked ourselves about the rightness of our actions, we would at least have considered their direct impacts on Dr. Fielding."

STEPHANIE MEYER, OUR AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLAR, ADDRESSED US

Stephanie is a graduate of ISU and a bright star in our universe.  Here the interview committee last fall poses with Stephanie.  (Left to right:  Jerry Myers, Charles Lehrman, Shari Stroud, Dick Boyd, Stephanie, John McGuire, chair, and Frank Lara.

RANDY CORYELL AND CY GILBERT ENTERTAINED US SATURDAY NIGHT WITH GREAT MUSIC

Randy is an amazing Grammy-Award winning pianist.  Cy is a flutist.  They were a rousing musical team.

YES, WE HAD A RAFFLE?  HERE'S WHO WON.
Geri Appel helps Daniell Rauscher scramble the Sun Valley raffle tickets.  It was from this same drum that Jerry Timm, the Indians and Geri Apple pulled the District 5400 Raffle winners.

HERE'S THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER, GLEN HARVEY AND KATHY MORTER OF POCATELLO GATE CITY WHO SOLD HIMSELF THE CRUISE

Other winners include Dick Halsey of Boise East who won the 42 inch HD flat screen TV.  Mike Young won an I-Pad, Becky Templer won an 8gb I-Pod Touch, Charles Hopkins won an 8gb I-Pod Touch, Carolyn Farling won an Amazon Kindle as did David Murray.

Raffle coordinator, Jerry Timm reports that the raffle brought in $52,000.  He writes, "In the seven years we have had the District Raffle, we have had sales of over $307,000.  After deducting $96,500 in prizes and costs, that leaves $210,500 for programs in our district, including Paul Harris funds, youth programs, and rebates tothe clubs for district conference registration."

CAN YOU FIND YOUR PICTURE BELOW...OR THAT OF YOUR FRIENDS?

Who are these Rotarians clowing around?  Why these are some of the Boise Sunrise Sun Valley Planning Committee that put on a spectacular conference.  (L. to R.:  Teresa Pulliam, Tom Rosenthal, Jim Hogge, Melissa Weymouth (Boise West),  Rob DesAulniers (Boise East),  Kerrylynn Miller and Jim Manion, the super co-chairs.
